Document: Caption Statement for Developed Canvas Training and Artifact 8
Caption Statement
I included this artifact in my e-portfolio because it is a training I developed this summer for faculty where I was able to take what I’ve learned throughout my course work and apply it to a real world experience. It relates to my theme of growth and transformation because I feel that this is a good representation of how much I’ve developed throughout the program.
This artifact helps to tie together my humanistic theory, behaviorist theory, and progressive theory of education. The trainings that I hold are optional, which lends to the humanistic theory that anyone who attends are highly motivated to learn, and are taking it upon themselves to learn. I also understand how the environment and feedback can affect a leaner (behaviorist theory) and so I strive to make sure that the training is positive and encouraging. It also relates to my progressive theory of education in that I am helping faculty to get practical knowledge in how to best use Canvas with their courses as some features are beneficial regardless of the type of course you teach and some features are needed, but it is up to the faculty to make that decision.
I have already made changes to this artifact when I asked for feedback from those who attended my sessions, as well as by reflecting on those sessions and seeing what I felt did and did not go well. There were aspects that I realized I did not explain clearly, and upon reflection changed the order in how I presented those ideas and found that they flowed better and were then clearer to explain. I apply this in my current role with any new faculty that needs introduced to Canvas as well as with anyone who has specific questions about features of Canvas.
